Product Details Introduction

Product Introduction:

PETG Metal Texture Decorative Film utilizes PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate-1,4-Cyclohexanedimethanol) as its core material. Through precise blending of metallic color masterbatch and functional additives, it undergoes cast extrusion molding to form the base film. Subsequently, surface treatment is applied using a 172nm nanophotolithography process with nitrogen protection, resulting in an innovative eco-friendly decorative material with a metallic finish. This material not only delivers exceptional texture but also exhibits outstanding resistance to abrasion, staining, chemical corrosion, and yellowing.

1  Base film: PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate-1,4-Cyclohexanedimethanol) is a non-crystalline copolyester, formed by the copolymerization of three monomers: terephthalic acid (PTA), ethylene glycol (EG), and 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM).

2  Coating: Utilizes a 172nm nanophotonic process with nitrogen-protected excimer treatment to impart core functional properties to the film surface.

3  Protective film: Paired with a 0.06mm-thick PE protective film for added protection.

4  Back coating: Specific functional coating is applied to the back of the decorative film to increase the dynary value (up to 38 or more), and enhance adhesion.

Product Advantages

Premium and lifelike texture

Reproduces the delicate luster and texture of metal materials with uniform, non-glare light reflection. Its visual texture closely resembles real metal, achieving a metallic finish without relying on metal substrates. This delivers a more sophisticated decorative effect.

Stable and Durable Performance

Inheriting the properties of PETG substrate, it offers excellent resistance to abrasion, staining, and chemical corrosion, ensuring minimal damage during daily use. With strong resistance to yellowing and aging, it maintains a consistent metallic luster even after prolonged use.

Environmentally friendly and easy to install

The raw materials are eco-friendly and odorless, meeting environmental standards with no release of harmful substances during use. The material offers excellent flexibility, making it easy to cut and apply to various substrates (such as panels and profiles), ensuring high installation efficiency.

Outstanding Value for Money

Compared to genuine metal materials, it offers lower costs and eliminates the need for complex processing techniques. It enables mass production with diverse color and finish options, meeting various decorative requirements.

Visual inspection ,  from different perspectives
The surface must be smooth with uniform color. There should be no missed coating, dirt, impurities, or oil residue. The reverse side must be free of UV coating agent. When inspected with a high-intensity flashlight from different angles, no dense pits or bumps are permitted, and no transfer film wrinkle lines or patterns are allowed. For textured glitter silver finishes, the texture must be clear and consistent. Visual estimation
Protective film Conventional Visual inspection The following defects are not allowed: adhesive residue, scratches, damage, wrinkles, lifted film, bubbles, or contamination from oil debris. Edges must be trimmed neatly. Visual estimation
Temperature resistance GB/T 17657-2022 Constant Temperature and Humidity Test Chamber,Condition: 60°C, 50–60% relative humidity, 168 hours. After film removal, the product surface must show no adhesive residue.A minimum of 3 samples are required for testing. Constant temperature and humidity test chamber
Resistance to cold and heat cycle Constant Temperature and Humidity Test Chamber:
One test cycle consists of: 60°C at 50-60% relative humidity for 4 hours, followed by -20°C at 0% relative humidity for 4 hours. A total of 6 cycles shall be performed. After the final cycle, the test is concluded when the temperature recovers to approximately 25-30°C. The test samples shall then be placed under standard atmospheric conditions for 2 hours.Upon completion of this conditioning period, the samples shall be inspected. After peeling off the protective film, the product surface shall show no adhesive residue, and the protective film itself shall show no signs of embrittlement. A minimum of 3 samples are required for this test.
Color GB/T 17657-2022 in 4.34 Visual color must be essentially consistent with no significant variation. When compared to the standard reference sample, the color difference must be ΔE ≤ 1.5. (mainly visual, supplemented by color difference value). Visual inspection, color difference meter
Coating hardness GB/T 17657-2022 in 4.58 Hardness ≥H, Test Method: Using a Mitsubishi pencil with a 500g load at a 45° angle.Note: Samples shall be taken from the 100mm position from the top edge. One sample each from the left, middle, and right sections must be tested. For each sample, the test is performed 5 times. A sample is considered acceptable if no scratch or gouge is observed in at least 4 out of the 5 tests. Electric pencil hardness tester / weight

Product Application Process

flat lamination process

1  Flat Lamination Process: Flat lamination applies decorative film onto flat boards using PUR or hot-melt adhesive. This process delivers a smooth, seamless surface with excellent durability and a premium look. It is ideal for PET and PP films, providing superior scratch resistance, heat stability, and long-lasting color.

Wrapping Process

2  Wrapping Process: Wrapping uses PUR glue to cover decorative films on profiles such as edge bandings, moldings, and skirting boards. PET and PP films offer higher durability and color consistency, ensuring a perfect match with laminated panels.

Special Note: Wrapping Process requires customized specifications and coating formulations.

Vacuum Forming Process

3  Vacuum Forming Process: Vacuum forming shapes heated decorative film over 3D surfaces using vacuum pressure. It's widely used for routed MDF doors and complex profiles. While traditionally applied with PVC films, the market is now shifting toward more eco-friendly alternatives.

Special Note: Vacuum Forming Process requires customized specifications and coating formulations.
